Saccharum Hotel Resort & Spa

Madeira Island, Portugal

The Saccharum Hotel Resort & Spa, nestled in the charming village of Calheta on the island of Madeira, is a celebration of the island's rich heritage. Inspired by the region's historical connection to sugarcane production – from honey to brandy – Nini Andrade Silva has created a unique and captivating guest experience.
Drawing inspiration from the island's agricultural past, the design seamlessly integrates elements of the sugarcane production process into the hotel's architecture and interiors. The spa, for example, features walls of warm, earthy tones reminiscent of the sugarcane fields, while the floors are adorned with stained concrete, evoking the rich hues of honey.
Large-scale photographs depicting the island's vibrant agricultural landscape adorn the walls, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the region's unique culture and history. The overall aesthetic is one of understated elegance, where natural materials and warm colours create a sense of tranquillity and well-being.
The Saccharum Hotel Resort & Spa is more than just a place to stay; it's a journey through the island's soul. Nini Andrade Silva's design philosophy is evident in every detail, reflecting her commitment to creating spaces that are both beautiful and meaningful.
